The talented crew at Circus Arts present their Term 1 Showcase My Wildest Dreams this week. Kate Priddle from Circus Arts filled The Echo in on what is in store!
What is Wildest Dreams about?
Wildest Dreams is about the students being able to re-create either wonderful or frightening events that have happened in their dreams. It gives them the opportunity to be creative and do the unimaginable while showcasing their amazing circus skills that they have been working on all term.
How do you encapsulate the ‘free spirit’?
Throughout Wildest Dreams we encapsulate free spirit by allowing the students to create a performance with no imaginary limits. They are able to collectively recreate something that they once thought could only be seen in their dreams.
Having the students use circus movements and performance skills to perceive this is a really exciting, amazing process to watch.
What skills do the circus students bring to the show?
Throughout the show you will see performances on the trapeze, silks, lyra, trampoline, tumbling floor, and the high flying trapeze.
How do you work up a piece like this?
From week four the students and coaches set aside a certain amount of time per class to work on the act for the show. Outside of that time, they work on upskilling and the improvement of skills is include in the routine.
What should people expect on the night?
You should expect a fun and creative production that is suitable and affordable for the whole family!
