About 1.45am Saturday, July 8, police stopped a 34-year-old male from Yamba who was driving a blue Toyota four-wheel drive in Quarry Road, Murwillumbah.
Police allege the man gave a false name and address, which they verified after locating a wallet containing his identification and a small amount of cannabis.
Subsequent inquiries revealed he was wanted for an alleged domestic assault and was also a disqualified driver.
The man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with domestic assault, driving while disqualified and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at the Tweed Heads Local Court later the same day and has since been refused bail by the Court to appear at court again tomorrow (Tuesday, July 11).
