After a bridal joy ride through the main street of Mullumbimby on Saturday, ‘brides’ Adrienne Dewdney and Bec Talbot dropped into the Mullum Monthly Market to propose to market-goers.
Dropping to one knee, Bec presented her ring box and cheekily asked, ‘Look, I know we’ve only just met, but will you update your enrollment details with me?’
The dynamic duo from the Northern Rivers Greens was campaigning to increase the amount of correctly enrolled voters.
The brides helped a dozen people update their details on the spot.
This Thursday, August 24 is the last day for updating details with the AEC for anyone wanting to vote on the Marriage Equality. It’s a postal vote, so if your details aren’t up-to-date, you won’t get sent the ballot.
