If you are driving and you are concerned that you might hit Alfred as he walks on the public roads, then you are driving without enough awareness to stop yourself hitting other beings on the road too – pushbikes, pedestrians and wildlife.
If you think you might hit Alfred then you will definitely be at risk of hitting an echidna, a wallaby, a snake, a possum and any number of native wildlife. Four koalas were killed in Ewingsdale just last week.
My suggestion is to stop looking for solutions to remove Alfred from the life he knows, causing him untold stress, and look to yourselves. Remember to live in a tolerant community, remember that your needs are not more important than the needs of other road users or any other creatures out there.
If you remember to have care for ALL life outside your car, we might even see more cyclists braving the roads that are there for everyone to use.
Slow down, chill out and have respect.
You might get there a few minutes later and lower your stress levels at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.
