When I first saw the new, black masthead on last week’s Echo I thought it was a practical joke. Then I wondered if some really important person had died.
But then I read the accompanying blurb and was shocked and depressed to realise that this was the new look that spelt the end to the Rainbow Echo.
All I can hope for is that you guys were having a particularly bad day when you came up with that idea.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
