New Brighton is a lovely long beach with one small handicap: there is very little parking. So we treasure our parking spots.
One of the best is the lane at the south end of the Esplanade. For years it has provided refuge for a dozen or more ‘nose-in’ parkers. No more! Two weeks ago there appeared, unannounced, imperious signs ordering us to parallel park, effectively halving the parking space.
I am wondering who puts up those signs? Is it our favourite villain, the council? Or the roads dept? Whoever it was, could we please have an explanation and, hopefully, a return to the more useful old ways.
