Byron had the early running but a try late in the half kept the home side in contention as the sides went to the sheds 14–12.
But the second half went to the Devils, who ran out winners of the derby.
A minute’s silence was held at the start of the match for Mullum local and former Giants first grade player David Mudge who died last week.
Giants reserve grade won 24–4, while in the ladies’ touch Byron came back in the final minutes to defeat Mullum 12–10.
