Local police say that a further two people have been charged after continuing investigations into a brawl at Ballina last month, in which a man died.
Just before 8pm on Sunday 22 December 2019, police and emergency services responded to reports of a brawl near Hill and Park Streets, East Ballina.
NSW Ambulance paramedics found a 24-year-old man suffering serious head injuries before he was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital. He died a few days later.
Following further inquiries by officers from Richmond Police District under Strike Force Tancred, at about 10.45am yesterday (Thursday 9 January 2020) a 19-year-old man attended Ballina Police Station where he was arrested.
He was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, and common assault.
The 19-year-old, from Alstonville, was granted conditional bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Wednesday 12 February 2020.
A fourth man, aged 26 from Ballina, has been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited weapon.
He will appear at Ballina Local Court on Wednesday 26 February 2020.
