Tom Tabart, From 1,500km (Drysdale)
It would appear that Cr Lyon (Letters, 11 March – Echonetdaily) is unaware of, or is choosing to ignore the full content of my letter.
The letter’s main purpose was to point out that the Byron Greens’ lack of local-issue policies is a result of long-term resistance from a section of the party. Cr Lyon is part of this faction which has managed to nullify numerous policies prepared by the most experienced members of the group.
It is unsurprising that this Council-based minority would be paranoid over policies that may conflict with decisions that Simon-says are the path to progress.
As to the party meeting mentioned, my information differs from Cr Lyon’s version of events, I believe the motion was to ‘oppose’ not ‘reconsider’ the Business and Industrial Lands Strategy; and the decision is still a live issue threatening Cr Lyon’s ambition to pave the Shire.
