Byron needs to be locked down. It’s total insanity to let these crowds fill the streets and beaches. Our hospital can’t possibly cope with a minor, much less major, outbreak. These people are putting the community at serious risk.
As for the Byronians who disregard the seriousness of this COVID-19 crisis, they seriously need counselling and should be asked to self-quarantine on pain of criminal charges if not abided by.
Queenslanders are continuing to flood in, despite their Premier saying the border crossings have to stop.
We have a dire situation in Australia, the airports are not providing any proper testing, or keeping records of incoming passengers. Sick people are arriving, and the example of 2,700 passengers being allowed to disembark from a cruise ship with four identified cases provides a shocking example of the failure of governments.
We have to rely on ourselves, and our Council, to act. Thus far, Byron Council has failed the test.
