Both Mayor Simon Richardson and Cr Michael Lyon seem to exist within a self-created bubble of narcissism. Within this bubble they seem to assume that they are always right, and consequently ask to be judged on their intentions not the results.
They also seem to be subject to crusader complex (as is Fastbuck$ himself). People subject to crusader complex feel compelled to do good deeds but have an equally strong compulsion to be seen to be doing good deeds.
The other common complex in the Byron area is the unrecognised genius complex, this phenomenon may also be at play.
