Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Crossing Over

I miss travelling. I miss the thrill of going somewhere new. The last few years feels like we’ve had no adventures. No interesting and foreign lands to explore.  It’s been all about staying at home. Thanks to Annastacia Palaszczuk, going to Queensland feels a bit like going overseas. I’ve had to cross the border for work a few times lately.

When we get to 95 per cent vaccination, this will happen

Just when we were getting used to the current COVID roadmap, it has changed directions. Adjustments to previous settings scheduled for this milestone were announced yetserday.

Bill Ashford, East Balllina

The only good thing resulting from the cessation of the local Ballina Weekly was not having to see and read the letters to the editor by that boring left wing @#[email protected]%# Keith Duncan of Pimlico.

Much to my horror it appears to me that he is now attempting the same with The Echo.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Bill he is certainly not endorsed by the Labor Party
However he is certainly quiet the opposite regarding the Greens !! This guy is the reason that labor will be sitting on the sidelines in opposition for some time..

  2. Keith Duncan can be an Independent, a Green follower, a flower-power
floater or whatever. I’ll say this much – he’s by far better informed than
most: that’s what articles & Letters to the Editor are all about.

  3. This local right-leaning minority seems a little “testy” of late, I wonder if it’s the string of election losses they’ve recently experienced, Biden’s landslide win seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Fellers, you all need to take a deep breath and learn how to deal with these little setbacks, and I have more news and for you people and it’s all bad, watch this space.

    • Keith setbacks !! How many 7 of the past 9 elections the conservatives have won ..
If a federal election were to be held now it
Be a thrashing Keith .. Albo is a Green , burke
And Butler , iam nobody’s Girl !! She is a green.the list gos on and on ..
And you are to Keith .. !! Nothing wrong with that
Keith except you call yourself a labor party
Member ? Iam yet to see any labor in your Articles
Of letters ..debunk my Views ..

  4. Very true, Keith. Just reading the response to Mandy’s Old White Men goes to
show how stirred-up they get over the truth of the world’s situation. They can’t
control their biased selves & get crazed over a well written article on how &
why we are in the state we are in. I would suggest they reread what Mandy’s
written & then try & repute it. Who in their right mind would applaud Murdoch’s
Power base all around the world! It’s below-the-belt manipulation control – as is
Trump, Putin, China-watch & friends. So Mandy lifts the lid on corruption. The
fact that all these ‘rulers’ control fossil fuels, parliaments, Pine Gap’s eye-in
-the-sky, farmers, all workers, the banks & large slices of the Stock Exchange
along with media to stifle the ‘freedom of speech’ & the Earth underneath our
feet & the koalas’ tree, river & dam ie; the heart of the country & its aged is
unforgivable. I’m a White Haired Woman & I say that ‘if we don’t get off our
backsides when we see a light at the end of the current tunnel we deserve all
we get. It’s the ‘children’ who deserve better.

  5. Bill, you are probably better of watching Paul Murray on “Sky News at Night” than reading the well articulated views of Keith Duncan and others. It’s your choice, Take my advice and join Murray and the rest of the right wing rabble of which he is the standard bearer. Happy viewing!!
