I completely agree with Clive Jeffery when he points out that the new pedestrian crossing near the Commonwealth Bank is not only badly placed but an accident waiting to happen.

Off the 50km road and into town, around the roundabout and into the corner leading into the main street and ‘ba boom’ – suddenly there’s someone in the middle of the road, just cruising, taking their time, because they’re protected by the lines on the road. Madness. If you’re not nimble enough to negotiate the road without crossing at that point, then toddle a few metres up the road and cross between the Middle Pub and Santos. Just what is the point here?

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
