Lismore City Council Mayoral candidate Steve Krieg is calling out what he says is the illegal removal and defacement of his signage in the lead up to next month’s local government elections.

‘I am extremely disappointed at the consistent illegal behaviour by those who don’t want to see us win this election,’ Mr Krieg said.
‘There has been spray paint on a business window, signs removed from private property, people breaking into buildings to remove signs, and baseless complaints that are wasting ratepayer money.
‘If you can’t win cleanly, you don’t deserve to win at all.
‘We are running a positive campaign and will not stoop to these levels.’
Mr Krieg said his team had been accused of carrying out illegal activity by other mayoral candidates in relation to a billboard on Woodlark Street – an allegation that he says was later proven to be false.
These candidates were then reportedly asked to remove their a-frame signage from Lismore’s early voting centre, he said.
‘I would encourage candidates to understand the rules first, before accusing others,’ he said.
