On Monday 29 November 2021, I was in Mullumbimby Woolworths around 1–1.30pm.
I counted 14 people without a mask, including two staff members and a Byron Shire mayoral candidate. A further four people wore their masks below their nose or chin.
As I entered, one person strode through the door without checking in.
I’m done shopping there – absolutely blatant disregard for public health despite COVID-19 now in the local community and a highly infectious new variant already in the country.
I was potentially exposed to the virus by 18 unmasked people within 30 minutes. One of whom I observed hoping to boost his immune system by loading up his trolley with certified organic soups.
There have been times when the supermarket has had security on site and enforcement of masks and check-ins. Apparently they no longer care.
