Earth Beer Company

Nestled amongst the rolling red fields, between the mountains and the sea, you will find one of the most iconic craft breweries in the Northern Rivers, Earth Beer.

To really understand the ‘earth’ part of Earth Beer, you need to know that around 23 million years ago the ancient Tweed Volcano (a shield volcano twice the height of its current remnant Wollumbin, Mt Warning) last erupted. First came the ‘Lismore’ basalt flow, then sedimentary rocks, then after three million years of eruptions the final ‘Blue Knob’ basalt flow finished, which has now weathered into the rich red volcanic soils of the Tweed. The Cudgen area is famed for its rich soil, and the Earth Beer brewery is located right in the middle of it.

The Earth Beer story started on a working avocado farm overlooking Wollumbin, with an old tin packing shed, and a vision forged in this same red earth of the Tweed Valley. Fuelled by the love of the land, Earth Beer Company believes in making time for the good things life has to offer; a morning surf and a cool, crisp beer to finish off the day.

Their aim is simple; to bring together those from all walks of life with a shared love of quality beer and the land they’re lucky enough to brew it on. Earth Beer Company believe in low impact brewing, so by packaging their beers as minimally as possible, reducing their trade waste and refeeding what they can back into their working farm to feed their abundant crop of avocados, they are actively moving towards their goal of being a carbon neutral brewery.

Even their spent grain ends up as breakfast for the much-loved pet pigs down the road, and in dog biscuits for your furry friend to enjoy on their next visit to the bar. Yes! That’s right! You can visit the crew at the brewery, which is located at Cudgen between the surf of Kingscliff and the river near Murwillumbah. And they are dog friendly too!

With beers poured directly from their bright tanks, you will find limited releases which utilise the seasonal produce grown upon their 25-acre farm. Think creamy Avocado Kolsch, rich Honey Coffee Porter and juicy Mango Weisse. With a Core Range of four beers, plus their Seasonal Releases, you will be spoilt for choice, so what better way to sample them all than on a tasting paddle with a selection of your choosing?

If you are searching for the full brewery experience, join their friendly team for a Brewery Tour and let them share their love of ‘all things beer’. The one-hour tour will take you on a guided walk around their farm, before getting hands on with some of the raw ingredients to learn about the basic foundations of brewing. You will be shown around their working brewery, with a taster in hand, and will learn about the brewing process from start to finish, and you might even get to sample something yet to be released!

The team at Earth Beer Company have truly created something special, and we are sure that there will be something for everyone when you visit them. They have a selection of non-beer beverages available, local produce for you to nibble on and enjoy, and of course, exceptional beers created with love, care and without compromise.
