A big congratulations to Moving Byron.

We all dream and hope for a route into the future, without ever quite knowing how. Council’s new transport policy is groundbreaking; it is stripped of bureaucratic ‘blah blah’ to core practical approaches. It speaks clearly to our human, economic and ecological needs, focusing on smart integrated ways to deal with access and mobility for all. It works constructively with our community strengths, while keeping a clear eye on information-driven approaches, or demand management.

It resists the easy binary approaches of cars versus public transport, or bikes versus trains, rather, it challenges us to explore sophisticated approaches. It’s terrific.

Well done to all those who have worked hard to make good, practical, visionary public [transport] policy.

It is a great starting point for our new Council. Hopefully, staff and councillors will see its value and compete to champion the cause.

Malcolm Price, Durrumbul

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
