It saddens me to watch Mullumbimby sliding into an unattractive dirty town.
Take a good look around on the pavements – spit, black marks from ground-in chewing gum and dog shit. These three deposits are found on most streets in the CBD. Dog poo is outside Council Chambers (not very welcoming for any visitor who steps in it). Several times I’ve found gum on my shoes, and being confronted by a globule of saliva is a disgusting sight to behold.
I don’t blame dogs, but I do hold you, their owners, responsible for their mess. You have chosen to have a dog, now take full responsibility and clean up its excrement. There is no excuse. ‘Scoop the poop’ bag and bin it. Don’t leave the bag on the pavement.
For those people who enjoy spitting or throwing their gum on the sidewalk, surely you’re capable of carrying a handkerchief or a small packet of tissues, ready for such an emergency, and later you can bin it. I’m asking people to stop and consider what you are doing. Are you aware that should you have the COVID virus, your act of spitting is spreading the disease?
Please think about what you might be about to do and let’s aim to get Mullumbimby back to its former glory, and hopefully keep us all healthy.
Organize and working bee among the towns folk.
If you like, you can present the Council with a bill afterward.
The real question is why are people there not caring about their town. Is there something wrong with it that makes them have disdain for it.
Seems like a thing to find out.
It’s a ghetto.
