In amongst all those duplexes in Tweed Heads have sprung funky cafes full of hipsters sipping almond-milk chai lattes whilst reading The Echo and the Nimbin Good Times.
Down in Kingscliff, people now say if you’ve seen Lisa Hunt or Wolfmother once too often, check out one of the groovy new wine bar music venues popping up along the Tweed Coast.
Meanwhile, in downtown Murwillumbah it seems everyone’s wearing kaftans and rainbow coloured tea cosies these days. The good old Imperial Hotel now has a kombucha bar and Michelin star chefs are champing to get into the old town.
All the Tweed needs is a few more potholes and the Byronification of the shire will be complete.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
