While Mandy Nolan’s not your MP, she’s still your MC, which means she can still do a lot of good work on the ground. Nolan is teaming up with her partner in crime, Ellen Briggs, to present Women Like Us on home turf. ‘Our community has been smashed’ says Nolan. ‘Laughter is an incredible way of bringing people together. I’ve been hosting comedy fundraisers in Tweed because after covid and the floods the morale is quite low, and there is so much work to do’. This show addresses both. Now in it’s 206th iteration, the smash touring show, which is heading to the UK next year, continues to wow audiences wherever they go. ‘We’ve never had anyone leave disappointed’ says Ellen Briggs. ‘Except our husbands.’
Women Like Us are donating $20 from every ticket sold to the Mullumbimby District Neighbourhood Centre for flood relief. ‘There are still so many people in hardship’ says Nolan. ‘So many people still waiting to know how to move forward. If we can help with fuel vouchers or assistance to replace their whitegoods, then even though it seems small, it tells people that we have not forgotten them.’
Women Like Us – at the Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club on Friday 29 July at 8pm. Tix $40 at womenlikeus.com.au
