An incident between two women in a car park in Tweed Heads has led to one woman in a critical condition and the other charged with attempted murder.
The injured woman remains in hospital in a critical condition and the second woman has been charged following an alleged stabbing at Tweed Heads yesterday.
About 1.40pm (Wednesday 28 September 2022), emergency services were called to an apartment block at Seymour Street, Tweed Heads, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers from Tweed Heads Traffic and Highway Patrol Command provided first aid to a 48-year-old woman before she was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical but stable condition, where she remains after undergoing surgery.
A crime scene was established by officers from Tweed/Byron Police District and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested nearby and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
She has since been charged with attempt to murder by means other than in ss27-29, cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.
She was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Thursday 29 September 2022).
Police will allege in court the younger woman allegedly stabbed and assaulted the older woman in the carpark of the apartment block during a fight.
