Due to overnight rain on the Bayshore Drive fireground, the fire between Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay has been downgraded to PATROL status, with responsibility returning to local crews.
47 millimetres of rain has fallen in the Tyagarah area since 1pm yesterday.
All crews have been stood down and the fire is safe while the rain keeps falling, but the fire is in peat, so it may be still burning.
