Get ready for a poetic showdown at this year’s Bangalow Show as the popular bush poetry event returns, promising an entertaining showcase of literary talent and creativity.
Poets of all backgrounds and experiences are invited to participate with just one simple rule: create and deliver a poem that lasts a maximum of three minutes or less. The catch? Your poem must incorporate the word ‘family’ – a theme that resonates with the heart of Bangalow.
This event offers not only the chance to express your artistic flair but also the opportunity to win a $100 first prize along with an exclusive winner’s sash.
Local poet extraordinaire, Angus Thurgate, will return as the event’s host. This year, he’s joined by a distinguished panel of judges who will be scrutinising the performances. The Bangalow Herald Editor, Sally Scholfield, The Reckoners, Christian Morrow, and local filmmaker Brett Stephens will be gauging factors such as audience engagement and crowd reaction.
Poets are encouraged to: ‘bring your A-game, dash off some verses with panache, and who knows, you might just win some cash and a sash!’
The bush poetry competition will take place at the picturesque Village Green, located just past the Moller Pavilion. Be there at 2.30pm, Saturday, November 18. For more information regarding the bush poetry event, or reach out to Angus Thurgate at [email protected].
