The Lennox Head Pirates cricket club have maintained their hold on first place in local cricket after big wins in second and third grade last Saturday.

In the second grade Far North Coast Cricket Council fixture held at Megan Crescent Oval in Lennox Head, the home side bowled Bangalow out for 53 runs in the 23rd over, after the visitors elected to bat.

None of the Bangalow batters reached double figures as Pirate Russell Asser led the charge claiming 4/12 off his eight overs. He was admirably backed-up by Nicholas Winkler-Maloney who returned 3/3 off 3.4 overs.

Lennox Head chased down the total in the 13th over with the loss of two wickets.

The win puts Lennox Head on top of the table with 11 wins form 13 games, followed by Colts, Byron Bay and Terranora.

Third grade

In the Ballina District Cricket Association third grade game, hosted by the Ballina Bears at Fripp Oval, Lennox Head (Green) won the toss and elected to bat, amassing 7/278.

Andrew Lindsay stole the show with 142 off 58 balls including  17 sixes and five fours. He was supported by Jacob Graham who scored 57 in the 178-run partnership.

In reply Ballina were all out for 66. Mark Duncan led the attack collecting 5/30 off eight overs. Harry Ranyard supported with 2/15 off four overs.

Lennox Head (White) also played their way into the top three with a close win over Tintenbar-East Ballina, and a big win over Byron Bay the week before.

Lennox are in top spot and Byron Bay are in second place after a win over Bangalow in Bangalow.

Ballina Bears round out the top four.
