Yesterday NSW Police were appealing for public assistance to locate a Sydney man missing in the Tweed/Byron area.
The man, aged 46, was last seen about 9pm on Friday evening at a home in Casuarina, he had travelled to the area earlier that day to visit friends.
When he couldn’t be located or contacted on Saturday morning, he was reported missing to police.
Following inquiries by officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District, the man’s vehicle – a silver Mercedes – was located about 11.30am on Saturday at shops in Cabarita.
Police conducted extensive patrols of the area, but couldn’t locate him and concerns are held for his welfare.
Following a continuing extensive search yesterday, a body – believed to be that of the missing man – was located in bushland near Cabarita about 7pm Sunday.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
