I just couldn’t let the letter from B Warrick just go by without a response (Letters, 10 January).
Mr Warrick appears to come from a position of colonial privilege. I think it’s arrogance to denigrate and make personal attacks on someone, rather than providing any real arguments based on fact of what actually occurred during the ‘Yes’ campaign.
The humble appeal of our Indigenous population, who simply petitioned for a Voice to Parliament, was trampled on by a non-stop negative fear campaign of disinformation by the ‘No’ camp, supported and energised by Sky News/Murdoch Press et al.
Mr Warrick snipes and attacks from on high a valued and hard-working member of our community. Mr Lazarus has given his time generously for years to protect and defend the environmental and social integrity of this area.
What have you done, Mr Warrick, to contribute to the wellbeing of our community? Everyone knows John Lazarus and thanks and respects him for his efforts over the years, both as a councillor and a driving force of the Byron Environment Centre.
I rather think the fool in this case is you, Mr Warrick. I think you’ve just shot yourself in the foot.
