Map showing Old Ballandean Road and New England Highway, Tenterfield, scene of a deadly crash on 21 February

Police say they’re investigating a crash that killed a teenager in Tenterfield last week.

Emergency services were reportedly called to the intersection of the New England Highway and Old Ballandean Road inTenterfield around 1.40pm Wednesday 21 February after reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers say they were told a B-Double truck and a Holden Barina crashed at the intersection before the car rolled.

Ambulance paramedics are said to have treated the 17-year-old male driver of the Holden before taking him to Tenterfield Hospital.

He was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition but died two days later on Friday 23 February.

A 63-year-old man who was driving the truck survived the crash without physical injury and was taken to Tenterfield Hospital for mandatory testing.

New England Police District officers have been investigating and say they will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Anyone with information about the crash, or dashcam or CCTV from the area is being urged to contact Tenterfield Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
