Police are re-appealing for information in the search for a missing elderly Northern Rivers woman with dementia who hasn’t been seen or heard from for four years.
The public alert comes as part of Australia’s Missing Persons Week.
The most recent known sighting of 75-year-old Elizabeth Forman was about 11.40am Thursday 1 October 2020.
She was going for a walk at a property on Friday Hut Road in Brooklet, about 20km north of Ballina.
A three-day search for the woman involving police, the SES, RFS, and local volunteers failed to find any sign of Elizabeth Forman.
Witnesses at the time reported seeing a woman matching Elizabeth Forman’s description on Ocean Drive, Alstonville – about 20km southwest of the Brooklet property – around 6.30pm on Friday 2 October 2020.
A police search of the area failed to uncover any evidence.
Elizabeth Forman is described as 173 cm tall with Caucasian appearance, a thin build, green/hazel eyes and dyed short blue hair.
She was wearing a navy-blue top and black pants at the time of her disappearance.
Aussies urged to ‘keen an eye’ on vulnerable loved ones
Missing Person Registry Manager Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim says police receive reports every day of a person living with dementia, or some other form of memory loss, who has gone missing.
‘Ever single one of those missing people become of a priority for us to find,’ Det Insp Sim said via media release on Monday.
‘I also want to urge the public to keep an eye on your loved ones who are vulnerable,’ Det Insp Sim said, ‘check in on them regularly and know the areas they are known to frequent in case they ever do go missing.’
