New equipment to help provide urgent medical care for sick babies and infants has arrived at the Tweed Valley Hospital, thanks to a generous donation to Our Kids from Tweed Community Clubs.
The Tweed Community Clubs, a collaboration of ten local clubs, donated $32,000 to Our Kids to purchase the PANDA Warmer Resuscitaire, which has been donated to the Emergency Department at the new hospital.
‘We went to the Tweed Clubs and asked them to help us purchase the PANDA and they said “yes we’ll help you do that”. It just affects so many families, there are so many babies presented in hospital,’ Our Kids Fundraising Coordinator Rebekka Battista told The Echo.

‘Our Kids is a trust within the Northern NSW Local Health District (LHD) that was set up by local paediatrician Dr Chris Ingall in 2001.
‘Dr Ingall saw that local paediatric equipment was not being funded and set up the trust to fundraise for equipment. Our Kids was set up and is based in Lismore, when we saw that donations were coming from the Tweed and Grafton areas we decided to ensure those donations went back to their local hospitals. Since 2001 Our Kids has purchased $2.5m of equipment for hospitals between Grafton and Tweed.
‘This generous donation from Tweed Community Clubs and the purchase of the PANDA has also marked an important milestone in the history of Our Kids,’ Rebekka explained.
There are always items on the wish list and if people want to contribute they can donate or help buy equipment through the Our Kids website.
