An opportunity is now open for Byron Shire primary producers and landholders to receive a grant of up to $3,500, to help them adopt regenerative land management practices.
The grants are being made available through Byron Shire Council’s Regenerative Agriculture Small Grants Program.

If you are a primary producer, market gardener or small-scale farmer you are invited to apply for funding for on-farm activities that will help improve the ecological functions of your land, quality of your soil, and increase production.
A limited number of grants of up to $3,500 are available for eligible on-farm projects.
Andrew Cameron, Byron Shire Council’s Agricultural Extension Officer, said that the aim of the Regenerative Agriculture Small Grants Program was to help improve the health and productivity of land in the Byron Shire.
‘You could use it for things like improving the quality of your soil or to create an integrated pest management system,’ Mr Cameron said.
‘These grants are a win-win for famers or producers, and consumers of the beautiful produce we are lucky enough to have access to in the Byron Shire. As an example, a simple change in farming practices may help enhance production of your crop and give people more delicious food to look forward to.’
Those interested in applying, can do so by going to Byron Shire Council’s website by Monday 16 September.
Successful grant recipients will be notified in October.
