The Richmond River Festival will be launched at this Sunday’s World Rivers Day in Lismore with a dynamic day of activities at Riverside Park, Ballina Street Bridge Boatramp. 

The celebration will include river-themed stalls, cultural performances, art, music, healing and well-being, weaving and family-friendly activities, all designed to connect, inspire and engage.

The Festival kick off at 11am, followed by a dance performance by Nini Nahri-Gali Dance Group at 11.30am. RiverTime will be filled with the music of Uncle Billy Smith, also known as Black Man Dreaming, playing his signature blend of country rock that comes from the heart. Fernando’s Mexican food truck will be onsite so bring a picnic rug for a relaxed day by the river in Lismore.

RiverFest 2024 will run between September 22 and October 20 with a range of events throughout the Northern Rivers over the month.

These include a Paddle on the Wilsons River in Lismore, a Brunswick River kayak, clean up and and mangrove tour, a sustainable fishing day on the banks of the Richmond, tree planting, writing workshop and nature journaling and more. The closing event, Where the Waters Meet in Coraki on October 20.

‘These cornerstone events will highlight the importance of healthy, thriving rivers and provide opportunities for community involvement in river restoration and protection,’ said organisers. 

Where the Waters Meet in Coraki will conclude the festival with a community picnic, river paddle, and tree planting day, encouraging ongoing stewardship of the Richmond River.
