
The 2024 Koori Mail Indigenous Art Award received over 80 entries across the country, with 25 finalists selected for the forthcoming exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery.
Organisers say the award is a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artistic practice. It attracts entries from established, mid-career, and emerging artists working across various mediums from every state and territory.
This year’s finalists are: Kylie Caldwell, Elisa Jane Carmichael, Bindimu Currie, Karla Dickens, Penny Evans, Clare Jaque Vasquez, Kieran Karritpul, Virginia Keft, Melissa Ladkin, Jenna Lee, Emma McNeill, Patricia Marrfurra McTaggart AM, Gail Neuss, Puuni Nungarrayi, Jenn Rowe, Marita Sambono, Damien Shen andAnthony Walker.
The 2024 youth finalists are: Ezra Baker, Tykiah Brown, Judy Ganambarr, Harley Green, Aria Kitchener, Zyon Nona, Chloe Rhodes.
The guest judge is Rebecca Ray, Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Collections and Exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.
Everyone is invited to join the artists and suporters for the award announcements and opening celebrations on Saturday, 30 November, from 2-4pm at Lismore Regional Gallery.
Award categories:
- Major non-acquisitive Koori Mail Art Award – $10,000.
- Innovation Award – $3,000.
- Friends of the Gallery Youth Award – $500.
