Police say they’re investigating two crashes in Ballina that led to a woman being airlifted to hospital Friday morning.
Emergency services were reportedly called to the intersection of the Bruxner and Pacific Highways at West Ballina, in response to a multi-vehicle crash shortly before ten am Friday.
Police say they were told a van crashed into a number of trucks, before the female driver left the scene on foot.
Officers say they soon were called again to the same site after a 49-year-old woman was hit by a truck.
Paramedics treated her on-scene before she was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police say the truck drivers all returned negative results to roadside breath tests and they are still investigating the incident.
