Further charges have been laid by strike force detectives following the death of a man at Kyogle earlier this month.
About 11am on Monday, 14 April emergency services were called to a home on Irwin Street, Kyogle, following reports a man was injured.
Officers attached to Richmond Police District arrived to find that a 49-year-old man was unconscious with assault injuries.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
Police commenced Strike Force Alonnah to investigate the man’s death.
Following inquiries, strike force officers arrested a 56-year-old man on Highfield Road, Kyogle, about 4.30pm the same day.
He was taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and affray.
The man was refused bail to appear before Casino Local Court on Tuesday, 14 April where bail was refused.
Following this, the man’s charges were upgraded to include manslaughter and assault causing death at Lismore Local Court on Monday, 28 April 2025.
The man is next due to appear before the same court on Wednesday, 16 July.
