Vote counting in the seat of Richmond has officially reached tipping point in the two-candidate preferred race with Labor’s incumbent Justine Elliot the clear winner at nearly 60%.
The Nationals’ candidate Kimberly Hone has, as expected, managed to overtake The Greens’ Mandy Nolan on preferences to take second place.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC)’s tally on Friday afternoon showed Ms Hone ending the two candidate-preferred race on 40.27%, down one and a half per cent on her final count in 2022.
Final positions for the top three candidates on first preferences changed little from that shown this time last week, with Labor in the lead at more than 30% followed by The Greens at more than 26% and The Nationals in third place at more than 25%.
Mandy Nolan for The Greens fell to third place after distribution of the other minor parties and Independents but the AEC was yet to release breakdowns of preference flows in the seat.
