Teven/Tintenbar Bridge

Ballina Shire Council will be installing new safety guardrails on both sides of the bridge on Tintenbar Road at Maguires Creek and  carrying out pavement stamping and line marking on the new roundabout at the intersection of Daley Street and Wardell Road, Alstonville  

The works will take place between 6.30am and 5pm on Tuesday, 15 July, through to Thursday, 17 July.

 The bridge will be closed to traffic between Houghlahans Creek Road and the Teven Road intersection on the western side of the bridge.

The following detours will be in place:

  • Eastbound traffic from Alstonville on Teven Rd will detour via Teven Road and North Teven Road to Tintenbar Road.
  • Westbound traffic on Tintenbar Road will detour via North Teven Road onto Teven Road.
  • Traffic from the motorway roundabout on Teven Road will need to use North Teven Road to travel east towards Tintenbar.
  • Houghlahans Creek Road traffic will be able to access Tintenbar Road at North Teven Road intersection and can follow detours to choose their direction.

The speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h through the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time as detours may add 10 minutes or more to their trip.

Temporary closure – Daley Street, Alstonville

Ballina Shire Council will be carrying out pavement stamping and line marking on the new roundabout at the intersection of Daley Street and Wardell Road, Alstonville.

The works will take place between 7am and 5pm on Tuesday, 15 July and Wednesday, 16 July.

Daley Street will be closed between Main Street and Wardell Road during this time. No vehicles will have access onto Daley Street from the roundabout at Main Street.

The following detours will be in place:

  • Westbound traffic on Ballina Road will detour via Main Street, The Avenue, and Coral Street to Wardell Road.
  • Northbound traffic on Wardell Road will detour via Robertson Street and Green Street to Ballina Road.
  • Access to carparking behind the Federal Hotel will be allowed via the intersection of Daley Street and The Avenue.

The speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h through the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

Ballina courthouse windows smashed, man charged

Police say a man will face court today, charged after 12 windows were allegedly smashed in Ballina last night.   Police say, 'About 10.35pm (Thursday 9 July 2026), police were called to Martin Street following reports of a man smashing windows'.
