Upgrades to Byron Bay’s town centre drainage system are due to start this week.
Byron Shire Council Assets and Major Projects Acting Manager Kevin Craft says people should be aware that there will be significant impacts in the town centre with extra geotechnical work happening.
Temporary traffic and pedestrian changes are planned for the town centre near the rail corridor, Jonson Street and Byron Street, including the installation of fencing.
The pedestrian footbridge between Butler Street and the rail corridor is to close.
One lane of a section of Jonson Street is to close for two to four weeks from late October.
A small section of Lawson Street Car Park South is to be closed until the December school holidays.
Vehicles will need to enter/exit from Shirley Street.
The laneway between Guzman Y Gomez and the Byron Hot Bread Kitchen is to also close.
