The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission says it expects some time will be required to receive and assess a ‘very substantial volume of material from the public and the NSW Police Force,’ as part of its investigation into police conduct in Sydney earlier this month.
The LECC’s Operation Makalu is accepting evidence from the public online as part of an inquiry into the response of police to a protest in Sydney on 9 February.
The commission says at least some of the hearings are expected to be held in public.
An LECC update last week stated, ‘the timing and progress of the investigation, including the timing of hearings, will depend upon assessment of the material to be obtained in the present phase of the investigation’.
