A 29-year-old man is due to face court next week over an alleged armed threat at a Lismore service station.
Richmond Police District officers said last week the man went into the Reddy Express service station on Sunday 25 January and demanded a free drink, before revealing a knife concealed in his waistband.
He is then said to have paid for the item and left the store.
The service station attendant contacted police, who identified the man through CCTV footage and later found him at a motel where he was reportedly arrested without incident.
A search warrant allegedly led to the recovered knife, clothing and other items linked to the offence.
Charges included being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and carrying a knife in a public place causing fear for safety.
He was refused bail and due to appear before Lismore Local Court on 9 February.
