Local women will take the stage to share their real-life birth stories at a special event in Murwillumbah on Wednesday, April 15, at the M-Arts Precinct.
Event organiser and former midwife Sali McIntyre from Birth Wellness Collective says Birth Stories on Stage is a ‘Raw, honest and deeply moving, these stories explore the intensity, vulnerability and transformation of birth.’
‘Last year’s event left audiences laughing, in tears, and deeply connected, with a strong sense of community that organisers are excited to build on again in 2026′.
She says, Blending storytelling with music, poetry and moments of lightness, the evening offers both entertainment and reflection — inviting the audience to see birth not just as a medical event, but as a powerful human experience and rite of passage’.
McIntyre says the intention is to shift the conversation around birth in a way that feels inclusive and empowering.
‘Storytelling has the power to change how we see birth. When women share their real experiences, it opens the door for others to feel more informed, more confident, and more connected to their own bodies.’
‘Tickets are $40 and include a complimentary drink, with food available at the venue.
‘All proceeds support the upcoming Birth Wellness Festival in Murwillumbah – a grassroots, community-led event that receives no external funding and aims to provide education, resources and support for pregnancy, birth and early parenting.
‘For those unable to attend, raffle tickets are also available online, with prizes donated by local holistic practitioners and businesses’, she says.
