Regional Development Australia (RDA) Northern Rivers have launched the ‘Our Northern Rivers’ photography competition and are inviting locals to capture the landscapes, industries and community life that define the region.

According to www.rdanorthernrivers.org.au/about/, RDA Northern Rivers are a not-for-profit, community-based organisation funded through the Australian Government’s Regional Development Australia Initiative.

‘The Regional Development Australia Initiative is a national network of 50 committees across Australia’s capital cities and regions, including the Indian Ocean Territories, Norfolk Island and Jervis Bay Territory’.

RDA Northern Rivers say in a media release, ‘Delivered through Live Northern Rivers, the region’s digital platform promoting life, work and community, the competition will run from 1 March 2026 to 10 April 2026, and is open to photographers living within the seven local government areas of Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed. Entrants may submit up to three original images’.

‘There are two categories: youth aged 12 to 18 years, and adults aged 19 years and over. With prizes generously sponsored by local businesses Byron Photo Magic and Lismore Art and Framing.

‘The Northern Rivers is renowned for its stunning landscapes, strong industries and vibrant community life, shaped by its unique blend of coastal and hinterland environments.
