It has been a busy time across the Summer and Easter holidays in the Mid-Richmond area, says Richmond Valley Council.
In a media release they say, ‘January figures from Destination North Coast showed that the Richmond Valley was the standout destination, with an 8.7 percent year-on-year increase in total tourist spend, a 17.2 percent increase in total tourist customers and 23.5 percent more tourist trips’.
‘In Evans Head, visitor expenditure increased by more than four percent compared to the 2024 benchmark, contributing an estimated $2.8 million to the local economy. When combined with residential spending, overall expenditure rose by 7.2 percent, totalling approximately $6.1 million over the period.
‘Evans Head remained the primary driver of seasonal visitation, accounting for approximately 70 percent of Mid Richmond’s visitor expenditure during the holiday period. ‘The surrounding villages of Woodburn and Broadwater also benefited significantly, with an estimated $1.2 million flowing into neighbouring communities and supporting local businesses across the wider region’.
