The upgrade of the Old Bangalow Road rail bridge in Byron Bay has been completed.
The old timber bridge, located along the non-operational Casino to Murwillumbah railway line, has been replaced with a modern steel arch structure and widened to accommodate two lanes of traffic.
The upgrade increases the bridge’s load limit to 42.5 tonnes, allowing heavier vehicles to cross safely and improving overall traffic flow
‘The new bridge is safer, stronger, and easier to use for both drivers and pedestrians. Projects like this show our ongoing commitment to improving regional infrastructure. It’s about making travel safer and more reliable for everyone,’ said Transport for NSW’s Director Contract & Corridor Management Sam Knight.
