Coorabell Public School’s Potteresque fete

Haven turns one: a three-day celebration

Haven’s story starts with a supermarket. The venue at 102 Jonson Street occupies the former Woolworths building, a site presented as a temporary home for music and community, before the building is eventually redeveloped. Instead of hiding that impermanence, the team made it the point. The space was built entirely from salvaged materials, turning a commercial site into a cultural one which is reminiscent of a futuristic Pan-Asian set from Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell.

An innovative parent of a Coorabell Public School student has found a novel way, or should I say the way of a novel, to draw attention to the school’s fete. It worked for me!

A screenshot from the fete clip by Nat Grube.

The theme of the fete is ‘Harry Potter’ and Coorabell Public School’s Nat Grube has made a cute little video to advertise the day.

The sorting hat will be waiting for you at the school gates to allocate you in to your Hogwarts’s House. You can join a house team and play fun games as you compete for the 2019 Hogwarts House Cup.

There will be plenty of entertainment on the day and fun sideshow Potterish games including quidditch training, bouncy castles, bungee run game and an amazing gigantic Zorb Ball to climb inside and turn your world upside down.

Professor Dumbledore will oversee a fun fancy dress competition and the infamous cupcake contest.

Managing mischief at Coorabell’s school fete.

Dine at the Leaky Cauldron (inc vegetarian), Honey Dukes, 3 Broomsticks, Hogshead and Florean Fortescue’s icecreams.

Professor Dumbledore, inspired by the Coorabell students, has decreed the fete will be committed to reducing waste and single-use plastic. So bring your broomsticks and wands, but also bring your own water bottle, plate, and magical smile.

Ample parking available at the School and on Mango Lane, Coorabell, on Sunday 25th August, 11am to 4pm.
