The Byron Shire Council has issued a reminder of potential long traffic delays on Mullumbimby Road from today.
The road is to be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic as workers start on a gravel overlay between McAuleys Lane and The Saddle Road.
The council is advising drivers to use Coolamon Scenic Drive or Myocum Road instead, with heavy vehicles told to use Myocum Road.
Emergency services and school buses are to be given priority on Mullumbimby Road.
The council says work will be happening Monday to Friday from 7am until 6pm each day.
The Mullumbimby Road works are expected to continue until Christmas with state and federal funds of $5.3 million
