Three people were injured in two separate crashes on the north coast in the past few days, two of them seriously.

In a head-on crash between a semi-trailer loaded with pigs and a sedan on the Bruxner Highway near Mummulgum yesterday morning, two drivers were injured, one seriously.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles for over an hour after the sedan landed on the truck’s cabin.

NSW Ambulance paramedics from Lismore, Casino and Kyogle as well as the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter treated the drivers at the scene of the accident 20kms west of Casino at Theresa Creek.

The male driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to the Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition, while the female driver of the sedan was airlifted to the Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition with multiple trauma injuries.

In a Coorabell accident on Thursday night, a car being driven east on Coolamon Scenic Drive by a woman left the road after hitting a guard rail and rolling.

The woman was ejected from the car which then landed on top of her, pinning her to the ground. She was released by emergency workers and airlifted to the Gold Coast Hospital, suffering head injuries, internal injuries and a number of fractures.
