
Tweed valley icon Toni Zuschke was taken by surprise while MCing the Tweed Business Excellence Awards when the event took an unexpected turn.
Lismore MP Thomas George MP (Nationals) mounted the stage to present the presenter with the NSW Premiers Award, recognising Toni’s contribution to the Tweed Shire community over the last 20 yex`ars.
‘This prestigious Award came as total shock to me, up on their on stage at the 2016 Business Excellence Awards Tweed Shire where I was presenting awards to others. I felt very humbled, honoured and valued. I love my community so serving them and being part of them is a privilege,’ Toni said.
Toni has managed and volunteered with many events to boost tourism and provide economic stimulus for business in the Tweed. These included the Business Excellence Awards Tweed Shire, the Festival of Speed on Tweed, World Rally Championships, Foodie Friday and Tweed Foodie Fest, the Murwillumbah Farmers Market, and Cooly Rocks On. If fact is was Toni who came up with the name Cooly Rocks On which replaced Wintersun in 2011.
Toni has been president of the Murwillumbah and District Business Chamber for seven years and a director for over 17 years.
