A man who pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he seriously injured a cyclist during a head-on collision at Ocean Shores in September 2016 will be sentenced in the District Court.

Emergency services were called to Orana Rd, Ocean Shores just after 8.15pm on September 4 after reports of a crash.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they found Glenn Guyler, who was riding a green mountain bike, unconscious on the road and being attended to by residents.

Mr Guyler was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Police canvassed the area and following investigations, South Golden Beach resident Trevor Lee Frick was arrested.

It was alleged the 41 year-old concretor was driving a blue Toyota Corolla hatch when he collided with Mr Guyler and fled the scene.

Facts before the court stated ‘the accused crossed to the incorrect side of the road and collided head-on with Mr Guyler riding a green mountain bike’.

Mr Frick was subsequently arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievious bodily harm while under the influence, negligent driving occasioning grevious bodily harm, mid-rand drink driving and failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm.

He appeared in person at Lismore Local Court on Tuesday where his solicitor Jim Fuggle entered a uilty plea to dangerous driving occasioning grevious bodily harm while under the influence.

Mr Fuggle tendered a section 166 certificate listing the remaining charges which will be considered by the judge in sentencing.

Magistrate David Heilpern committed Mr Frick for sentence to Lismore District Court on May 1.
