Xavier Eddington, Cash Cratchley, Suki Alford and Skye Pockley put in a great effort to win gold in the U/12s swim team in ideal conditions at last weekend’s Far North Coast branch junior surf championships hosted by Byron Bay Surf Club.
The Byron quartet bucked the trend that saw Cudgen and Lennox Head nippers emerge as the strongest competitors on the beach and in the water throughout the competition.
All competitors from all clubs put in an incredible effort in their individual and team events over the two-day event.
The clubs will meet again in two weeks at South West Rocks, where they will join other country clubs for the Country Championships.
The Byron Surf Club plays host again this weekend for the Byron board paddle from Wategos to Main Beach.
All boards are welcome and it is a fun way to catch up with friends as you paddle the Bay and raise money for the Byron Bay Surf Club.
