A three-year-old child was blue after being pulled from a swimming pool at Discovery Holiday Park Byron Bay on Tuesday afternoon (January 8).
The child was rescued and given CPR by another holiday-maker onsite
A NSW Ambulance Service spokesperson said they had one crew called to the scene at around 3pm.
He described the toddler as being ‘in a stable condition, conscious, breathing, alert and responding’ by the time the ambulance arrived.
‘According to the report, he was underwater for less than five seconds,’ the spokesperson said.
‘He was transported to Byron Central Hospital as a precaution.’
Being underwater taking in water for less than 5 seconds does not make one blue. It must have been longer period of time for the child to be blue, so either the time span was not reported accurately or the person who used the word blue was being overly dramatic. I know. I have witnessed children pulled from water before. The blue may be accurate if s/he had been already swimming for a while in cold water.
